Project Information

  • What is the J1 Project?

Hutchinson Community College is implementing Jenzabar One (J1), a modern, cloud-based enterprise system that will support key functions across the institution and help position the College for the future.

J1 will serve as HutchCC's new Student Information System (SIS) and Financial Information System (FIS), replacing the College's current PX system. The new platform will provide enhanced functionality, improved access to information, streamlined processes, and a more connected experience for students, faculty, and staff.

From student admissions and registration to financial aid, student accounts, and business operations, J1 will support critical institutional processes while creating opportunities for greater efficiency, improved reporting, and better service across campus.

The implementation of J1 is a multi-year collaborative effort involving departments throughout the College and is currently on track for a planned go-live in July 2026.

  • Why HutchCC selected J1

Hutchinson Community College selected Jenzabar One (J1) as part of its commitment to maintaining a modern, reliable, and sustainable technology environment that supports student success and institutional effectiveness.

The College's current system, PX, is approaching the end of its lifecycle, making it necessary to transition to a platform that can meet the evolving needs of students, faculty, and staff. After evaluating future needs and long-term goals, HutchCC chose J1 because it offers:

    • A modern cloud-based platform that reduces reliance on aging technology and supports long-term sustainability.
    • An integrated system that connects student, financial, and administrative functions within a single solution.
    • Improved user experiences for students, faculty, and staff through modern self-service tools and streamlined workflows.
    • Enhanced reporting and access to information to support data-informed decision making.
    • Greater efficiency and automation of processes that currently require significant manual effort.
    • Ongoing product development and support from a higher education-focused technology partner.
    • Scalability for the future, allowing the College to adapt to changing needs and opportunities.

The transition to J1 represents an investment in the future of HutchCC and will help ensure the College has the tools needed to effectively serve students and support institutional goals for years to come.

  • Project goals

The Jenzabar One (J1) implementation is intended to support HutchCC's strategic goal of modernizing core institutional systems while improving the experience for students, faculty, and staff. Key project goals include:

    • Replace the College's aging PX system with a modern, cloud-based platform that supports future growth and innovation.
    • Improve the student experience through enhanced self-service tools and streamlined processes.
    • Standardize and simplify business processes across departments to increase consistency and efficiency.
    • Reduce reliance on manual processes and workarounds through automation and system integration.
    • Provide improved access to data and reporting to support informed decision-making.
    • Create a more connected campus experience by bringing student, financial, and administrative functions together within a single platform.
    • Establish a sustainable foundation for the future that can adapt to the evolving needs of the College and its students.
  • What improvements are expected?

With the implementation of Jenzabar One, students will see more streamlined processes and have quicker access to important information.

Here are some of the Jenzabar One enhancements, all of which are mobile-friendly, that will directly benefit students:

    DragonZone redesign

    • As part of the Jenzabar One (J1) implementation, DragonZone will transition to a new, modern portal experience powered by J1 to make it easier for students to find information quickly and easily. The redesign will include the aggregation of content currently spread across several web pages, therefore limiting the number of places students and staff need to go to find information.

Course registration improvements and degree audit

    • Through Jenzabar One, students will have access to a course planning calendar that will allow them to see if a course fits their schedule, how many seats are available in a course, and who the instructor is.
    • An advising worksheet (degree audit) will be available to guide students in selecting courses toward their degree. They will also be able to see the status of their degree requirements.

    Other features

    • Quick access to financial accounts, grades, transcript requests, and vehicle information.
  • What does Go Live mean?

The J1 system upgrade and data migration process will begin on July 9, 2026, and is currently scheduled to be completed by July 31, 2026.

During this transition period, HutchCC’s current systems, including PX and DragonZone, may be unavailable or placed into limited read-only mode while data is migrated and validated within Jenzabar One (J1).

While the College works to bring the new system online, several services and processes will be temporarily paused, including:

    • Student enrollment and registration activity
    • New account creation and account updates
    • Financial aid processing
    • Purchasing and financial processing activities
    • Certain student and employee self-service functions

Additional communication and reminders will be provided to campus as the Go Live period approaches.
