MOTORCYCLE SAFETY

Motorcycle Safety Education

Purpose

The purpose of the Motorcycle Safety program at Hutchinson Community College is to provide a service to the public. The State of Kansas and the college provide this service to Hutchinson and the surrounding areas.  Students must be at least 15 years of age with a driver's license or learner's permit to qualify for this course through HutchCC.

Cost- $250 Includes training materials, motorcycles, helmets, t-shirt & lunch on Saturday & Sunday.

Expectations

  • To successfully complete this course, it is required that the course participant be able to balance a two-wheel vehicle, such as a bicycle, before beginning the on-cycle lessons.
  • It is also important to not only be healthy but to have enough fitness, strength, and coordination to learn well and manage the physical demands of riding a motorcycle.
  • Students must be punctual and attend all sessions in order to complete the class.  Please check your calendar to be sure that you can attend all sessions from beginning to end.
  • Please plan to arrive no later than 5:45 PM on Friday evening to check-in. Classes begin promptly at 6:00 PM and end at 10:00 PM. There are 8 hours of instruction on Saturday and Sunday, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM (or 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM when Group B class is offered) for a minimum of 20 hours of instruction.
  • The safety clothing required for this class is long pants, a long-sleeved shirt, full-fingered gloves, boots or shoes above the ankle, and eye protection (eyeglasses or sunglasses).

  • How do I enroll?

    Please apply for Admission as a Guest Student, taking a class without seeking a degree if you plan to attend only this training. For convenience, you can use this link:  Application for Admission. Please fill out the Motorcycle Paperwork as part of that process along with uploading your driver's license.

  • When is the tuition due?

    The $250 class fee & your enrollment paperwork are due 2 weeks prior to class start to hold your reservation in the class.

  • How do I pay the tuition/course fees?

    Once we get you on a roster, you'll receive a Confirmation Letter with details about payment options & methods. You can pay by check, money order, cash, or card.  Payments can be processed by mail or in person at 1300 N. Plum in the Business Office or by phone at 620-665-3509.
     

  • What if I don't turn in my paperwork or payment 2 weeks prior to class?

    You will get a reminder of your due date by email.  Unfortunately, if we don't have your enrollment paperwork & tuition, we cannot hold your spot.  The slot would be offered to the next available person on the Wait List.
