Academics at Hutchinson Community College

INTERNATIONAL

Application Process

After reviewing your documentation, the International Student Advisor will determine whether or not you may be admitted to Hutchinson Community College. If you are admitted, you will be sent an I-20. You must pay a $200 SEVIS fee before your visa interview. You will be required to take your I-20, SEVIS receipt and passport to the nearest U.S. Consulate or Embassy to apply for your student visa. If you are not admitted, you will be notified by mail. Plan ahead, the international student application process may take six or more weeks to complete.

If you are applying as a first-time college student, we encourage you to take either the American College Test (ACT) or Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and submit your scores as soon as possible. Although not required for admission to HutchCC, many four-year colleges in the U.S.A. will require one of these tests for admittance. Scores are very useful for placement purposes.

Information about obtaining a visa can be found on the U.S. Department of State website:  https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/study/student-visa.html

International Guest Application

A current F-1 international student can be enrolled in two different SEVIS-approved F-1 schools at the same time (concurrent enrollment).  HutchCC requires the F-1 student to obtain permission from their current international advisor to enroll concurrently at HutchCC.  Students enrolling concurrently will be considered non-degree seeking at Hutchinson Community College.  Complete the International Guest Application and return it to the HutchCC International Advisor by email, international@hutchcc.edu, or fax to 620-728-8155.

Planning Your Future

Costs are based on twelve credits per semester.
ESTIMATED TOTAL*  - $13,000

*Estimated Total is a variable depending on changing conditions in the U.S.A. economy. It is also based on attending only nine (9 months) and does not include the three summer months. The above expenses should be increased by approximately 25% if the student plans to live in Hutchinson and attend summer sessions. All of the above are estimated costs and are subject to change without notice. The above information is only provided to give you an estimate of total living expenses.

Before admittance to Hutchinson Community College as a student, you must show evidence of support for the first academic (9 months) year of attendance in the amount of $13,000 (US Dollars). As indicated on the International Application for Admission you must make a DEPOSIT of $1,500, which will be applied to your first-semester tuition and fees, before you will be sent an I-20 form.

THERE IS NO FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

HutchCC has very few on-campus employment opportunities for international students. Off-campus employment is very difficult to obtain and must have prior approval.

THE FORM I-20 WILL NOT BE ISSUED UNTIL PROOF OF YOUR FINANCIAL SUPPORT IS ON FILE WITH THE INTERNATIONAL ADVISOR AT HUTCHCC, AS WELL AS ALL OTHER ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS, INCLUDING THE $1,500 DEPOSIT FOR YOUR FIRST SEMESTER ENROLLMENT TUITION AND FEES.

E-mail inquires should be directed to the International Advisor at international@hutchcc.edu.
