Book Buyback helps the Campus Store keep an extensive selection of used books in stock. This event is available to everyone other than Book Scholarship & Book Rental students. If you purchased your textbooks and did not sign a rental or book scholarship agreement, you can sell your books for cash. Please do not sell scholarship or rental books for cash; you will be charged for them.
New for 2022-2023. We will buy back your textbooks anytime, during business hours, with the exception of the start of a semester. This time is reserved for those students who are purchasing/ordering textbooks. We will still hold a buyback during final exam week at the conclusion of each semester. Be sure to check the Campus Store website for specific times and dates.
Buyback is a service offered to our students by the Campus Store staff.
The Campus Store does not decide which textbooks to use for each course. Your instructors and the head of each department are responsible for the textbook selection. Once they have made a decision, they tell the Campus Store which books to order. The Campus Store encourages faculty to make their decisions early so that we can find more used copies and keep them on hand.
• If an instructor changes a book after the class starts, the student can exchange it for the correct book (see refund policy for additional information on deadlines http://www.hutchcc.edu/campus-store/textbooks)
• If a class is canceled by the college, the student can return the book for a full refund (see refund policy for additional information on deadlines http://www.hutchcc.edu/campus-store/textbooks)
• The Campus Store is owned and operated by Hutchinson Community College for the benefit of our community. All proceeds from our operations are returned to the college.
Book scholarships cover textbooks that can be reused in future semesters. Lab manuals, workbooks, and other consumables cannot be reused, so they are not eligible for a book scholarship. In addition, a textbook must be used for 6 semesters and listed as required to be eligible for a book scholarship.
We staple a copy of our refund policy to your receipt at the time of purchase. You can also review the Campus Store Refund Policy. If you have questions, please contact the Campus Store.

Students must have a student ID card to purchase textbooks and a copy of their schedule to help locate them on our shelves.
Our bookshelves are organized alphabetically by the course ID, which is listed on the class schedule. Without the schedule, it can be very difficult to find the correct textbooks.
All students enrolled in a class at HutchCC are assigned a Student ID number. This ID number can be found in DragonZone on your profile page. You will need to visit the Student ID Center, located in the basement of the Student Union, to obtain a Student ID card before coming to purchase your books.
You can also find your schedule online in your DragonZone
The best time to purchase your textbooks is within one to two weeks of the first day of class, as this will be when the optimum quantities of textbooks will be on the shelf.
The Campus Store is the home of your Blue Dragon gear, such as hoodies, t-shirts, hats, lanyards, children’s clothing, and many other items. We also have school supplies (notebooks, binders, paper, pens, pencils, computers, earbuds, etc.) and many other gift items for graduates and alumni.
We also stock various educational resources such as BarCharts/ Quick Study guides for various subjects, flashcards, and reference books.
HutchCC has been implementing more digital course materials. We currently have Cengage Unlimited (CU), Inclusive Access (IA) or eBooks (eBook). The Inclusive Access and eBooks are delivered via the VitalSource platform. Cengage Unlimited is a different platform. All materials are accessed via the course in LearningZone. Please do not purchase from the platforms directly. These items are not "in-stock" on the textbook page, they are digital materials.
Cengage Unlimited: There is a single Cengage Fee of $109.00 charged per semester if a student has one or more courses using Cengage Unlimited materials. This is charged like a course fee and is has no "opt-out" option. The material will be accessed via the course in LearningZone. Course content is available 3 days prior to the start date of the course. For the best experience please use only the following browsers: Chrome or Firefox. You will need to register with Cengage the first time accessing a book. Please use your DragonZone email address and access the registration from the LearningZone course portal. Do not go directly to Cengage to register your account.
VitalSource (IA or eBook): These materials will have a charge posted to your student account. This platform does allow you to opt-out; however, I would advise you to not opt-out until you know for sure you will not need any courseware materials that are only available via this resource. At this time, there are no course adoptions on this platform with a cost over $100. The average is currently running around $50 per item. This is subject to change dependent on the books and courseware material adopted by faculty.
