Barbering - AAS
This program prepares students for a career in the professional barbering industry. Students learn the basics of haircutting, styling, shaving, scalp care, shampooing, and successful barbershop management. Hands-on practice is incorporated with every lesson to shape student confidence and performance. On the barbershop floor, students build skills and become well versed in the latest techniques and trends while providing services to the public under the supervision of an experienced, licensed barber instructor.

Barbering is an industry-trending career with excitement and creativity for serving clients. Barbers transform clients’ appearance to help them achieve the latest on-trend look that best represents them. To ensure public health and safety, barbers must be licensed in the state they practice.

Program Outcomes
- Artistically and skillfully illustrate men’s haircutting, shampooing and scalp treatments, and styling on all clientele types.
- Achieve hair color and chemical processes.
- Model correct application of facial massaging and shaving, skin care, straight razor techniques, and manicuring.
- Employ barbershop business success skills including marketing, customer service, sale of retail products, and developing client relations.
- Comply with proper safety and sanitation procedures.
- Demonstrate appropriate workplace professionalism.
