The HutchCC Campus Safety Department is committed to supporting academic excellence by maintaining a safe and secure campus environment. Our professional staff, student interns, and safety partners work around the clock to ensure that students, employees, and visitors can learn and thrive with confidence.
AROUND-THE-CLOCK COVERAGE: A full-time Coordinator, Assistant Coordinator, part-time staff, and student interns — including a dedicated non-sworn security officer — provide coverage 24/7, year-round. Staff are always available by phone to respond to safety concerns and emergencies.
PATROLS & MONITORING: Campus Safety personnel conduct regular foot and vehicle patrols to maintain a visible presence. HutchCC maintains hundreds of security cameras across the main and satellite campuses, and well-lit campus grounds provide additional safety for students moving between facilities.
EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS: HutchCC follows the Emergency Operations Plan (EOP), which outlines response procedures for crises. A cross-campus committee of faculty and staff meets regularly to train, review, and strengthen the plan.
EMERGENCY COMMUNICATION: HutchCC’s Emergency Alert System (EAS) delivers time-sensitive messages via email, text, mobile app, web alerts, and audio announcements. Students and employees should keep their contact information up to date in DragonZone.
COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS: Campus Safety works closely with the Hutchinson Police Department and Reno County Sheriff’s Office to provide strong law-enforcement support. Officers also join students for meals in the cafeteria, helping build trust and positive connections on campus.
