This program prepares students for entry-level positions as practical nurses. The program combines theory and practice emphasizing the roles of a practical nurse as a provider of care, manager of care, and member of the discipline of nursing. Graduates of the program are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN).
Licensed practical nurses (LPNs) provide basic nursing care under the direct supervision of registered nurses and doctors. LPNs are in demand in several industries throughout the global workforce. Most LPNs work in healthcare facilities, including hospitals, doctors' offices, and long-term care facilities. Duties usually include providing routine care, observing patient's health, assisting doctors and registered nurses, and communicating with patients and their families.
