Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration - CERT B

This program covers installation, calibration and maintenance of heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems for residential and commercial buildings and industrial applications. Each application course includes a lab component.

Careers

Heating and air conditioning systems control the temperature, humidity and air quality in residential, commercial and industrial buildings. Refrigeration systems ensure the safe storage of food, medicine and other perishable items. HVACR technicians install, maintain and repair such systems.

Program Outcomes

  1. Understand the theory of AC and DC and their application
  2. Measure electrical units with testing equipment
  3. Set up and operate electrical devices and equipment
  4. Identify properties of semiconductor materials
  5. Describe operating characteristics and applications of electrical devices
  6. Apply electronic troubleshooting techniques
  7. Maintain electrical equipment
  8. Evaluate problems in electronic components
  9. Understand the operation of a PLC network control system
  10. Recognize control systems and how they operate
  11. Recognize and describe various data communications system
