Computer Support Specialist - CERT A
A program that prepares individuals to provide technical assistance, support, and advice to computer users to help troubleshoot software and hardware problems. Includes instruction in computer concepts, information systems, networking, operating systems, security, cloud computing, computer hardware, the Internet, software applications, help desk concepts and problem solving, and principles of customer service.

Virtually every business and industry needs computer support specialists to provide technical assistance and advice regarding hardware, software, systems and security. Computer support specialists resolve problems for computer users; install, maintain and update hardware and software; and maintain and secure systems and networks.
Program Outcomes
- Demonstrate professional attitude and work ethic including collaboration and communication skills.
- Evaluate current operating systems, application programs, hardware, networking, security and troubleshooting techniques.
- Develop and apply specialized computer technology skills, in a hands-on industry setting.
- Distinguish and appropriately apply industry terminology and standards in computer technology.
- Research and obtain appropriate information, evaluate alternative solutions and make decisions as applied to computer technology.
