Agricultural Diesel Mechanics - John Deere Pathway - AAS

The Agriculture Diesel Mechanics – John Deere Pathway prepares students with the technical knowledge and hands-on skills needed for employment as certified Service Technicians at a PrairieLand Partners John Deere dealership. Students learn from a John Deere-certified dealer instructor who also serves as a Hutchinson Community College faculty member, ensuring classroom instruction aligns with current industry standards. The HutchCC curriculum follows the John Deere Technical Training Certified Technician Roadmap, allowing students to progress through three levels of training that lead to John Deere Technician status.

In addition to receiving industry-recognized technical training, eligible students enjoy a variety of benefits through the partnership with PrairieLand Partners, including:
  • Paid internship opportunities that provide valuable real-world experience.
  • A $5,000 tool allowance to help build a professional tool collection.
  • Reimbursement of tuition and fees up to $8,000 to cover the cost of the two-year program.
  • Written assurance of full-time employment with PrairieLand Partners upon successful completion of the program.
  • A post-graduation sign-on bonus, with the amount based on the student's GPA.
With paid work experience, financial assistance, guaranteed employment opportunities, and industry-leading training, the Agriculture Diesel Mechanics – John Deere Pathway provides students with a direct route to a rewarding career in the agricultural equipment industry.

  1. Analyze what to consider when purchasing new or used agricultural equipment
  2. Operate and handle agricultural equipment safely
  3. Monitor and adjust agricultural equipment for good performance
  4. Service, inspect, and repair various types agricultural equipment
  5. Practice safety and cleanliness procedures when working on diesel fuel systems
  6. Efficiently schedule and accomplish work assignments
