Pharmacy Technician - AAS

Careers

Pharmacy technicians work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and perform many pharmacy related functions. Duties may include: preparing prescriptions, counting pills, extemporaneous compounding and preparing parenteral medications. Pharmacy technicians work in a wide variety of practice settings, including community pharmacies, hospitals, home healthcare, mail order and longterm care facilities. It is critical for candidates to be detail-oriented and understand the importance of accuracy since dispensing pharmaceuticals impact a person’s life. Technicians work the same hours that a pharmacy is open. This may include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, particularly in facilities such as hospitals and retail pharmacies.
