  • The HUTCHINSON HOSPITAL AUXILIARY has a variety of volunteer opportunities available.  The newest is volunteers are needed to staff the book and magazine cart.  Qualifications include a willingness to become a member of the Auxiliary, professional, positive and willing to participate in required training which includes HIPPA training.  I am interested - Hutchinson Hospital Auxuiliary

  • FRIENDS OF THE ZOO needs volunteer train engineers to run the 16 gauge train for Prairie Thunder Railroad.  Potential volunteers must be comfortable and competent operating gas engines, be dependable and punctual, be out-going and enjoy working with adults and children and successfully complete the application process.  The zoo is open seven days per week.    I am interested - Zoo
     

  • ELMDALE 50+ CENTER is seeking a volunteer to decorate the tables and bulletin board at the Center each month.  The volunteer will work with the supervisor to determine a theme for the month and then decorate the tables using supplied decorations.  New decorations could be made also.  I am interested - Elmdale

  • FRIENDS OF THE ZOO is seeking volunteers for the Gift Shop / Visitor’s Center.  Many volunteers are needed to greet zoo visitors, provide information on various zoo programs, assist customers in the gift shop, serve as cashiers and more!  Some of the qualifications include being outgoing, dependable, punctual, able to follow directions and enjoy working with the public.    I am interested - Zoo

  • REINS OF HOPE is a therapeutic riding program for children and adults with special needs.  Volunteers are needed to lead horses or walk beside horses and assist riders during day or evening classes.  Knowledge of horses is helpful but not required. The ability to walk for approximately 45 minutes to one hour is required.  I am interested - Reins of Hope

  • The Kansas Underground Salt Museum Volunteers are needed to fill the following positions. Click the link below if you are interested in being a part of this exciting new attraction in our community.  I am interested - KUSM

    -- Drivers for electric trams on underground tours
    -- Exhibit interpreters in the exhibit portion of the museum
    -- Tour guides (drive and speak) on the electric tram tour of the mine called the “Dark Ride”
    -- Speaking guides (to accompany a driver) on the electric tram tour of the mine called    the “Dark Ride.”
    -- Safety equipment handlers
     

  • BIG BROTHERS / BIG SISTERS OF RENO COUNTY is seeking several individuals and families to be matched with at risk girls or boys between the ages of 5 and 17 to serve as positive influences in their lives.  Volunteers must make a one year commitment and meet with their little brother/sister once a week for two to four hours.  Qualifications include the ability to successfully complete the application process.   • The FAITH IN ACTION VOLUNTEER CAREGIVER PROGRAM needs volunteers to provide services for frail, elderly people in our community. Volunteers will be matched with a care receiver and could be asked to provide friendly visiting, grocery shopping, respite care or assist with errands. Volunteers must enjoy working with the elderly and successfully complete the application process. Training will be provided. I am interested - FIA

  • AMERICAN RED CROSS needs several volunteers to become Disaster Action Team (DAT) members.  Volunteers will respond to disasters and assist victims as needed, provide Red Cross services such as food, clothing and shelter to disaster victims and provide referrals to other agencies. DAT Volunteers must complete American Red Cross Disaster Courses.   I am interested - ARC

    Volunteer tutors are needed to work individually with adults who are studying basic math, reading, and writing skills. An instructor is in the classroom to provide help and support to the volunteers. Patience and a desire to assist adults develop confidence in their academic skills are required. Some foundation in math, reading and basic writing skills would be helpful. Training is provided. I am interested - tutoring
     

  • The HUTCHINSON ANIMAL SHELTER is seeking volunteers to assist with socializing dogs and/or cats, walking dogs, cleaning/changing litter boxes, providing customer service at the front desk and making phone calls to help reunite owners with their lost pets. Volunteers must love animals, be able to work with the public, be dependable, at least 16 years of age and be able to follow directions.  I am interested - Animal Shelter

  • The goal of the Medical Reserve Corps is to provide a place for medical and non-medical personnel to donate their time and expertise to assist the local healthcare community in times of disaster or public health emergency as well as during non-emergency events such as first-aid stations and health fairs. If you are not medically trained, you can help with operational support, administrative support, interpreters, educators, greeters, reception and registration, safety and security, and more. If you are a doctor, dentist, optometrist, nurse, EMT, CNA, mental health professional, a medical student or any other medically trained person, we invite you to volunteer also or at least call for more information.   • Volunteer hosts and hostesses are needed at a local nature center to greet the public, orient visitors through the new display gallery and to assist the receptionists as needed on Saturday or Sunday afternoons from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Volunteers must be friendly, enjoy meeting the public and be interested in nature.   • KANSAS KIDS UNLIMITED MUSEUM at the Hutchinson Mall needs friendly, reliable volunteers to handle ticket and gift sales or oversee children’s activities and assist where needed.  Hours can be flexible.  Volunteers must be dependable, enjoy working with children and like to meet the public.  Training will be provided. I am interested - KKM 

  • Volunteer English as a Second Language tutors are needed. Volunteers will work individually with adults who do not speak English as their primary language.  I am interested - ESL

  • Receptionists are needed  to greet visitors. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, polite, helpful, level headed and dependable. I am interested - receptionist
