Hutchinson, Kan. – The Board of Trustees of Hutchinson Community College has announced the hiring of Dr. Carter File as the seventh President of the College.
Dr. Carter File was born and raised in Beloit, Kansas and graduated from Beloit Junior/Senior High School. Dr. File attended Kansas State University, receiving his Bachelor of Science degrees in business administration in 1984, and a Master’s of Business Administration degree in 1993, from The University of Baltimore. He completed a Doctor of Philosophy Degree from the University of Nebraska in Educational Studies, with a specialization in Educational Leadership and Higher Education in 2013.
Dr. File has held several executive level positions in the private sector as a controller and chief financial officer. For the past twelve plus years Dr. File has worked in the Kansas community college sector of higher education. Prior to his hiring as President, he worked at Hutchinson Community College as Vice President of Finance and Operations, a position he has held since 2005.
Dr. File is married to Tracey, his wife of twenty-five years, and they have two adult children, Emily and Samuel.
Dr. File replaces Dr. Edward E. Berger, who will retire June 30, after 23 years as President of Hutchinson Community College and with 33 years of work at the College.
