> NewsHutchinson, Kan. – Frank Abagnale, an author, lecturer and consultant in the area of document security, will be the first speaker for the 2012 Ray and Stella Dillon Lecture Series at Hutchinson Community College. Abagnale will lecture on January 31, at 10:30 a.m. in the Hutchinson Sports Arena. The lecture is open to the public. Cost to attend the lecture is only $10, with students admitted free. In recognition of Abagnale’s service to law enforcement, all members of the police force including area police, and sheriff’s departments will be admitted to the lecture free of charge. Officers will need to wear official uniforms, or provide a current identification badge and enter through the East entrance to gain admission to the lecture. Abagnale will speak on his experiences with document security, forgery and embezzlement. Abagnale will also speak at a special luncheon for the Lecture Series, immediately following his presentation. Frank Abagnale is a world authority on security and secure document protection. An expert in the areas of forgery, embezzlement and secure documents, Abagnale has more than 30 years of experience in helping individuals and industry with identity protection. Abagnale may be best known for serving as the inspiration for Leonardo DiCaprio’s character in the major motion picture Catch Me If You Can. He was a consultant for the FBI for more than 35 years, and lectured extensively at the FBI Academy and area field offices on fraud prevention. In 1998, he was named a member of the Pinnacle 400 by CNN Financial News. He is a member of the Board of Editors for Bank Fraud and IT Security and also for the Financial Fraud Law Report. Abagnale believes that because punishment for fraud and recovery of stolen funds is so rare, prevention is the only viable course of action. Abagnale has authored several books, including The Art of the Steal, The Real U Guide to Identity Theft, Stealing Your Life and Catch Me If You Can, the book that inspired the hit movie.
