The Lady Dragons
make their home in the Hutchinson Sports Arena.
It is the same venue
that annually plays host the to NJCAA Men's Basketball Tournament as
well as Blue Dragon men's and women's basketball.
Because of the configuration used
for volleyball at the Sports Arena, the fans are right on top of the
action, giving the Lady Dragons a unique home-court advantage.
A record crowd of more than 1,200
witnessed the first HCC volleyball victory over rival Barton County in
21 years in 2004.
The Lady Dragons have gone
undefeated at home in each of the past two seasons, winning three
tournaments and defeating nationally ranked foes Barton County, Seward
County and Arkansas-Fort Smith on their home court.
The Arena, which has a 7,000-seat
capacity, was renovated at a cost of $2 million in 1980. after being
built in 1952. It still remains as one of the most functional
facilities in the state.
In addition to the spacious main
floor, the Arena also has a secondary practice floor, the team's
weight room, locker room, coaches’ offices and sports medicine
facility.
The Sports Arena is located on the
southeast edge of the HCC campus, just two blocks away from the dorms. |
