The Hutchinson
Community College volleyball team dropped one spot to No. 14 in the
latest NJCAA Division I National Volleyball Poll on Wednesday.
The Lady Dragons
(8-4, 1-2 Jayhawk West) split a pair of Jayhawk Conference matches
last week. HCC swept past Colby, but lost a five-set battle that
lasted more than two hours to Seward County, which jumped into the
latest poll at No. 11.
This is the 51st
time in the last 53 polls dating back to 2003 that the Lady Dragons
have been involved in the NJCAA Division I national poll.
Seward County is the
only other Jayhawk West team in the national rankings. Pratt, which
was swept at Barton one week ago, completely fell out of the
national rankings.
College of Southern
Idaho jumped seven spots and is now the new No. 1 team in the
country. Former No. 1 and defending national champion Blinn is
second and North Idaho is third.
Four Lady Dragons
are ranked in the Top 50 of the NJCAA national statistical rankings.
Sophomore Debbie Ohl
is ranked No. 3 in blocks at 1.51 blocks per set. Freshman Kate
Morrell is 10th in the country in blocks at 1.29 per set.
Freshman setter Emme
Russell is 35th in setting at 7.15 assists per set. Freshman Lindsay
Dusin is 41st at 6.72 assists per set.
The Lady Dragons
play Dodge City at 6:30 p.m. today at the Sports Arena.
