MANHATTAN – One Hutchinson Community College women’s relay and one individual punched their tickets for indoor nationals on Sunday at the 2008 Region VI championships at Ahearn Fieldhouse in Manhattan.

Sophomore Amanda Young and the women’s 4x800-meter relay earned trips for the 2008 NJCAA Indoor National Championships next month in Charleston, Ill.

Young cleared 5 feet, 1 inch in the women’s pentathlon to reach the automatic qualifying mark. It was the first time this season that Young has cleared 5 feet. Young is the second individual to qualify for nationals.

Later in the day, HCC’s 4x800 relay team of Amber Kerschen, Natalie Marshall, Andrea Schurman and Kayla Delzer qualified for nationals in a fourth-place time of 15 minutes, 25.64 seconds.
