NORTH NEWTON – Sophomore Kevin
Montisano earned a two-set victory at No. 4 singles for the
Hutchinson Community College men’s tennis team’s only victory over
Bethel College on Tuesday at the Bethel College tennis courts.
Montisano (4-3) became the only Blue
Dragon singles player with better than a .500 record with a strong
6-4, 6-2 victory over Bethel’s Tyler Doerksen at No. 4 singles.
Montisano has won 2 of his last three matches and 3 of his last 5.
Sophomore Casey Eveleigh was the only
other Blue Dragon singles player to win a set. Eveleigh (3-4) lost
10-5 in a super-tie break after splitting the first two sets 6-4 and
1-6.
The Blue Dragons fall to 2-5 in duals
this season and will complete in the Bethel College Invitational on
Friday and Saturday in North Newton.
