Blue Dragon Sports Information Office is at your service to
assist you with coverage of HCC athletics.
Sports Information Director Steve
Carpenter and his staff will be happy to serve you in coverage of all
14 Blue Dragon intercollegiate athletic teams during the 2006-07
season.
The HCC Sports Information Office is located in the
Humiston Center on the second level of the Hutchinson Sports Arena.
Office hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Sports Information office phone number is 620-665-3593. If you
need to reach SID Steve Carpenter after hours, call his cell phone
at 620-921-1242.
BLUE DRAGON VENUE LOCATIONS
Football, Track - Gowans Stadium is located just
west of the Sports Arena on East 11th
Avenue, just east of the intersection of 11th and Plum.
Basketball, volleyball - The Hutchinson Sports
Arena is located in the 700 block of East
11th Avenue, just east of the Kansas
Cosmosphere and Space Center and Gowans Stadium.
Baseball - Hobart-Detter Field is located on the
south end of Carey Park, which sits on the
southern-most end of Main Street.
Softball - The Fun Valley Softball Complex is
located two miles west of Hutchinson on 4th Avenue.
Soccer - The Hutchinson High Soccer Complex is
located on 23rd and Cleveland.
Tennis - The HCC Tennis Courts are located just
north of Gowans Stadium and Blue Dragon Plaza
on the main campus.
CREDENTIAL REQUESTS
Season or per-game media credentials for print media,
radio and television are required to cover Blue Dragon football and
men’s and women’s basketball games.
Requests can be made by calling the HCC Sports
Information Office or faxing on company letterhead a request signed by
the sports editor/director to 620-665-3394.
Per-game credentials must be made no
later than two days prior to the event
to be covered.
Credentials for other HCC athletic events are not
required, but it would be courteous to inform the Sports Information
Office of the intent to cover the contest.
MEDIA WILL CALL
If possible, credentials will be mailed out, but in
case media members must pick them up at the site, please read the
following procedures:
Gowans Stadium - Media
Will Call will be located at the west ticket window
of the new Gowans Stadium. The west ticket window will have direct
access to the press box elevator.
Sports Arena
- Media Will Call will be located at the pass gate at
the south door of the west entrance to the Sports Arena.
Do not go to either ticket window to obtain credentials.
MEDIA PARKING
Gowans Stadium - There will
be very limited parking for media members on the west side of Gowans
Stadium. As of this time, there is nothing guaranteed in the way of
media parking at Gowans Stadium so get there early.
Sports Arena -
Parking is free on the east and west sides of the
Sports Arena for basketball. Media members are
encouraged to park in the west lot for the easiest access to the will
call window.
MEDIA FACILITIES
Gowans Stadium - The 2006
football season will be the first for Gowans Stadium's new press box.
Media members will have access to both phone lines and internet
connections in the press box.
A long-distance access code may be needed and will be
provided by the Sports Information Department
if necessary.
Visiting radio stations must contact Bill Oliver at
KWBW radio (620-662-4486) to inquire about courtesy lines to be used
for broadcasts.
Sports Arena - There are
upper and lower press areas at the Sports Arena. Visiting radio

For volleyball, a temporary press
table is set up for each single match. No on-court press tables are
set up for tournaments.
Hobart-Detter Field -
Hobart-Detter Field has a full press box located
atop the main grandstand. There are no hot phone lines in the press
box, but there is a phone in the ticket booth that can be used for
transmitting stories and radio broadcasts.
Fun Valley - Each field at
Fun Valley is equipped with a small box for scoreboard, public address
and statistic crews. Usually there is room for one media member
normally.
No phones are available in the press
box, but there is one in the umpires room. Prior approval to use that
phone is required.
INTERVIEW POLICY
All requests for interviews by all media must be made
through the HCC Sports Information Office and then
must be OKed through the head coach.
This policy goes for weekly and postgame interviews for
all Blue Dragon student athletes throughout the season. Media members
who do not follow this policy will be subject to revocation of
credentials for the entire season. |
