THREE LADY DRAGONS ON ALL-REGION TEAM

Three members of the 2005 Hutchinson Community College softball team earned All-Division II Region VI postseason honors on Monday. The teams were released by the Region VI office on Monday.

First baseman Sunny Valentine was a second-team selection, while outfielder Heidi Dyck and shortstop Chelsi Saia were on the honorable mention list.

Valentine, a sophomore first baseman from Eureka, led the Lady Dragons in hitting with a .329 batting average. She also led HCC in RBIs with 29. She also had the second-best fielding percentage among infielders with a .960 mark (15 errors in 385 chances).

Dyck, a sophomore outfielder from Hutchinson, hit .304 this season with a team-high .527 slugging percentage. Dyck also had team highs of 12 doubles, three triples and five home runs.

Saia, a freshman shortstop from Frontenac, Kan., hit .292 with a .393 on-base percentage. She had 33 hits, three home runs and drove in 17 runs.
