Hutchinson Community
College sophomore outfielder Jessica Glenn was named to the NJCAA
Division II softball 2009 Preseason-All-America softball team on
Thursday.
The sophomore
outfielder from Overland Park was a third-team NJCAA All-American
after her freshman season in 2008.
Glenn broke six
single-season team records as a freshman, including batting average
(.453), total hits (96), runs scored (56) and total bases (119). She
ranked in the top 6 of 14 different offensive single-season
categories last season.
Glenn had 29
multi-hit games, including four four-hit games against Independence,
Dodge City, Fort Scott and Garden City this season. She had a
team-high 12-game hitting streak and had another nine-game hitting
streak. Glenn hit .485 with runners in scoring position and was a
.485 hitter with two outs. She drove in 23 two-out RBIs.
She had nine
multi-RBI games, including two five-RBI games against Labette and
Independence.
The Lady Dragon
freshman also earned first-team All-Jayhawk West and first-team
All-Region this season.
Glenn was one of
four Jayhawk Conference players from Division II programs to earn
preseason All-America honors. Joining Glenn are Cowley College
players Jacy Juden (utility) and Kalisha King (catcher), who were
first-team selections. Pratt infielder Daniela Leal was a
second-team selection.
The Lady Dragons,
which come off a 40-win season in 2008, will open the 2009 season at
on Feb. 19 at Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa. |
