Hutchinson Community College freshman golfer Nicky
Maddison was named a first-team PING/NJCAA Division I
All-American for the 2009 season.
Since
2006, Ping has announced an All-America team that is
different from the NJCAA Coaches’ All-America team,
which is earned by a golfer’s finish at the NJCAA
National Championship.
Maddison
joins fellow freshman teammate Dale Middleton as Blue
Dragons who earned All-America honors in 2009. Middleton
finished sixth at the 2009 NJCAA Championships in
Huntsville, Ala., to earn second-team Coaches’
Association All-America honors.

HCC Sports Information
Friday, May 22, 2009
HUNTSVILLE Ala. – Freshman Dale Middleton became the
first Hutchinson Community College men’s golfer to
finish in the top 10 of a national tournament on Friday.
Middleton shot even par in the final round to place
sixth at the 2009 NJCAA Men’s Division I Championship at
Hampton Cove Golf Club.
Hutchinson’s had four Top 15 golfers in national
tournament history. Finley Halsig finished 11th in the
1995 Division II championship and Grady Pauls finished
11th in the 2007 championship. Adam Young was 12th in
2004 and Jeremiah Nelson was 12th in 2003.
Middleton topped those Blue Dragon greats with a steady
four days at the 2009 championship. Middleton finished
4-over par 292 over 72 holes, finishing seven strokes of
the pace of individual champion Tommy Sikes of Midland
College.
Middleton had rounds of 72, 73, 75 and 72, finishing the
tournament with 12 birdies, 10 bogeys and just two
