A native of Wichita, Jordan Bell will be the
defensive backs coach for Hutchinson Community College this season.
Bell comes to Hutchinson after spending three seasons on the
coaching staff at Emporia State University.
Bell spent his first season coaching the safeties and
the next two seasons coaching the cornerbacks with the Hornets. Bell
had one player earn first-team All-Mid-America Intercollegiate
Athletic Association honors in 2006 (Brandon Stribling). In 2004 &
2005, he had one player earn second-team all-league honors (Chris
Peoples and Emmanuel Howard) and another named to the MIAA honorable
mention list after the 2005 season (Stribling).
Stribling went on to sign a free agent contract with the NFL's
Cincinnati Bengals.
Bell also played at Emporia State University from
1999-2003.
He was a three-year letterman at free safety. Bell played under head
coaches Dave Wiemers and current Southern Illinois University head
coach Jerry Kill.
Bell played on Emporia State's 2002 Mineral Water
Bowl championship team that went 9-3 and on the Hornets' 2003 MIAA
conference champion and NCAA Division II playoff team that also went
9-3.
Bell was born in Wichita and attended Bishop Carroll
High School, where he graduated from in 1999. While at Bishop
Carroll, he was part of back to back Wichita City League
championship teams.
He earned a bachelor's degree in sociology from
Emporia State in 2004.
