Membership:
The team consists of 14 members, including 2 captains and 2 lieutenants
who provide the leadership for the team.
Auditions:
Group auditions are held in the Spring of each year on HCC campus.
The Dance Team Officers will teach a dance to the group to perform.
Private auditions are available by appointment between the months of January and
August. You will perform a 1 ½ minute routine of your choice.
Requirements for both group and private auditions include: Toe touches,
leaps and turn sequences. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT POTENTIAL IS THE MAIN
FACTOR – we are here to teach you!
Practices:
Practices are held during class period on Tuesday and Thursday from 12:40 to
1:50pm and Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30pm. Each member is required
to enroll in a Rhythms class and will receive 1 physical education credit.
Scholarships:
Officers and Lieutenants receive a partial tuition scholarship, plus book
scholarships each semester. All other members receive a book scholarship
each semester.
Performances:
The Dance Team performs twice a month at half time of the HCC Blue Dragon
Football and Basketball games and at the NJCAA Basketball Tournament on the HCC
campus in March. We also take a trip to the United States Air Force
Academy in Colorado Springs to perform and take 2 ½ days to ski the Colorado
slopes!
