LAKE AFTON –
Freshman Tamara Gagne was the top runner for the second-straight
meet as the Hutchinson Community College women’s cross country team
tied for 11th on Friday at the Friends University Invitational.
Running 5K for the
first time this season, the Lady Dragons tied Coffeyville for 11th
place with 311 team points. Fort Hays State won the meet with 50
points. Cowley College was right behind with 62 points.
Gagne, a freshman,
ran a time of 22 minutes, 1.84 seconds to finish 53rd in the race
that featured 128 runners from 15 schools ranging from NJCAA, NCAA
Division II and NAIA programs.
Other runners who
figured in the Lady Dragons score were:
Realynn Pounds, who
finished 7th in 22:34.0; Emily Metzler, who was 70th in 22:39.9;
Karra Durrant, who was 69th in 23:08.0 and Jolan Holloway, who was
82nd with a time of 23:12.85.
The rest of the Lady
Dragons results were: Tamara Ketterl, 90th (23:33.0); Anne Mailoux,
101st (24:24.42), Callie Elwood, 102nd (24:24.64), Haley Garst,
104th (23:36.0), Annelle Chestnut, 105th (24:46.0) and Morgan
Shambley, 106th (24:50.0).
The Lady Dragons
will be off next week and will compete at the Tabor College
Invitational on Sept. 26.
