ARKANSAS CITY – Freshman Andrea
Scheuerman was the top Hutchinson Community College women’s runner
on Monday at the Region VI Women’s Cross Country championships at
Cowley College.
Scheuerman finished 29th to lead the
Lady Dragons to a seventh-place finish in the regional meet with 179
points. Butler won the Region VI title with 41 points.
Hutchinson finished fourth in the
Jayhawk West Championships with 98 points. Butler was the Jayhawk
West champion with 25 points and all seven runners placing in the
Top 10.
Scheuerman finished with a time of 17
minutes, 29.56 seconds to lead the Lady Dragons. That time was good
enough to finish 16th in the Jayhawk West standings.
Right behind Scheuerman was freshman
Amber Kerschen, who was 30th in Region VI and 17th in the Jayhawk
West results with a time of 21:16.87.
Colby’s Betty Rotich won the women’s
regional and conference titles with a time of 17:29.56, a full 1:08
ahead of the second place runner in the regional standings and 1:22
ahead of the next Jayhawk West runner.
