The
nationally ranked Hutchinson Community College Cheer
Squad will perform its national routine with a
“Nationals Preview Show” at 5 p.m. on Saturday at the
Sports Arena.
The
“National Preview Show” is open to the public and free
of charge. Also performing will be the Iowa Western
Community College Cheer Squad.
HCC’s national
competition routine includes many skills that cannot be
performed at basketball and football games.
This performance helps
the cheerleaders prepare for the pressure of nationals,
and more importantly allows the cheerleaders to show off
their routine and abilities to the community.
The HCC Cheerleaders
leave April 9th for Daytona, Fla., where the team has
received a partial-paid bid to attend the NCA College
Championship competition.
Six teams will compete at
the NCA nationals in HCC’s division: Kilgore College,
TX, Barton County Community College; Weatherford
College, TX; Navarro College, TX and Trinity Valley
Community College, TX.
These schools represent
the best in college cheerleading in the junior college
co-ed division.
Butler Community College
and Iowa Western will also be competing at
the College Championship in the Co-ed Intermediary
Division and Kansas State University will be competing
in the Division I competition.
Portions of the
competition will be broadcast on Fox SportsNet April
26th.
