The Hutchinson Community
College women’s basketball team earned the No. 7 overall seed and drew
Shelton State Community College in the first round of the NJCAA Women’s
National Tournament next week in Salina.
The Lady Dragons (30-4) will
play Shelton State (28-4), the overall 10th seed, at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday,
March 17 at Salina’s Bicentennial Center.
Hutchinson earned its first
national tournament berth in 32 years on Monday night after a thrilling
53-51 victory over Jayhawk West rival Seward County in the Region VI
Tournament championship game at Charles Koch Arena in Wichita.
Shelton State, located in
Tuscaloosa, Ala., was the
Region XXII champion and defeated Alabama Southern 62-50 in that regional
championship game.
