DRAGONS RESCHEDULE FRIENDS JV GAME

FOR NEW YEAR'S DAY

HCC Sports Information

Thursday, December 27, 2007

The Hutchinson Community College athletic office announced on Thursday that the HCC men’s basketball team’s game with the Friends University Junior Varsity postponed on Dec. 8 will be made up on New Year’s Day.

The game will tip off at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 1.

There will be no admission to this game, HCC athletic director Randy Stange said.

The game was originally scheduled as part of the Airport Steakhouse Classic on Dec. 7-8 at the Sports Arena. The Blue Dragons defeated Central Nebraska 97-72, while the Friends JV lost to Fort Scott 73-65.

Airport Steakhouse will be the Game Sponsor for the New Year’s Day game.

This will be the first time since 1998 that the Blue Dragons have played on New Year’s Day. On that day, HCC played Central Arizona in the Mesa Holiday Shootout and won 96-74.

Hutchinson enters the New Year’s Day game with a 9-4 and winners of 8 of its last 10 games.

This will be the final non-conference game of the season for HCC. The Blue Dragons will open Jayhawk West play on Saturday, Jan. 5 against Seward County at the Sports Arena.
