BLUE SQUAD COMPLETES SWEEP

OF BLUE DRAGON FALL WORLD SERIES

The Blue Squad earned an extra-innings victory, and then a run-rule victory to complete the sweep of the Blue Dragon Fall World Series on Sunday at Hobart-Detter Field.

Brett Delcambre’s sacrifice fly in the eighth inning scored Michael Peterson with the winning run to lead the Blue to a 4-3 victory. Then in Game 3, the Blue Squad scored 11 runs in the first inning to capture the series with a 15-1 win in four innings.

The Blue defeated the Red Squad 10-6 in Game 1 on Saturday.

 

Game 2 recap

The Blues rallied in their last at-bat to force extra innigs on RBI doubles by Clay Cuno and John Schneider. Then in the eighth, Peterson had a one-out single, moved over to third on two Red Squad errors and scored the winning run on Delcambre’s sacrifice fly.

The Red team tied the game at 1-1 in the sixth on an Adam Roy single. The Red took a 3-1 lead in the seventh on back-to-back RBI singles by Jamel Cervantez and Luke Acosta.

Derek Graves, who pitched the eighth inning got the victory. Taylor Roy took the loss for the second-straight game.

 

Game 3 recap

The Blues sent 15 batters to the plate in an 11-run inning that broke the game open early. The Blues had eight hits in the inning, six of those hits driving in runs.

The Blue Squad had nine hits and took advantage of five Red errors.  Dixon had a pair of hits and drove in three runs. Trever Adams went 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Schneider was 2 for 3, including a triple with an RBI and two runs scored.

Brady Taliaferro got the clinching victory for the Blue team. Red starter Adam Loecker took the loss.
