runs and Shawn Lewick pitched five gutsy innings to lead the Hutchinson
Community College baseball team to a 10-5 Jayhawk West victory over Butler
to force a split in a Jayhawk West doubleheader on Friday at Hobart-Detter
Field.
Butler scored 14 runs in the
first three innings of the opening game and went on to win 16-6.

GAME 2 RECAP
(HCC 10, Butler 5) - BOXSCORE
Dixon went 2 for 4 with a
triple and a season-high five RBIs to lead the Blue Dragons in the second
game. Dixon’s bases-loaded triple in the third inning proved to be the key
hit as HCC took a 7-3 lead.
The Blue Dragons had 10
hits, getting two hits each from Trever Adams and Dan Klein, who had a
two-run double in HCC’s three-run second inning.
Drew Wilkinson hit his first
career home run, a two-run shot in the fifth inning.
Lewick (2-1) allowed five
earned runs and four hits in five innings. He struck out four and walked
three. Matt Williams threw two scoreless innings of relief with three
strikeouts.
Combined, Lewick and
Williams limited Butler to just four hits in the nightcap, but four walks
and three HCC errors made things more interesting than it should have been.
