New Mexico Junior College Recap
In a rematch of HCC’s 2006 Juco World Series
opener, New Mexico Junior College pitcher Justin Robinson struck out 13 Blue
Dragons and gave up just one hit en route to a 4-2 victory over Hutchinson
in the final game of the Texas swing.
The Dragons started out well, getting two
runs in the first inning off of Robinson. LaGree walked and then Roy
delivered a two-run home run to left field. But after that, the Dragons had
just one more baserunner. That was Matt DeBlanc, who reached on an error in
the third inning. After that, Robinson retired the final 13 Blue Dragons he
faced in order.
HCC freshman Jason Borchardt didn’t pitch
badly, giving up two runs in the second and third innings. He allowed only
four hits and three earned runs while striking out five in four innings.
Freshman Kyle Rosine struck out three and allowed only one walk in two
innings of relief.
The Blue Dragons will play Fort Scott and
Iowa Central on both Saturday and Sunday in Fort Scott.
