CHAMPIONSHIP DAY RECAPS

Consolation - Hutchinson Trinity 56, Rossville 32

Hutchinson Trinity shot 50 percent while its defense stifled Rossville for an easy victory in the Class 3A third-place game.

Trinity (25-1) hit 20 of 40 shots, including 4 of 11 from 3-point range and 12 of 17 from the free-throw line. Rossville (20-6) hit just 10 of 48 from the floor, 4 of 18 from 3-point range and 8 of 12 from the free-throw line.

Ryan Mesh had a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds to go with three assists, two blocks and a steal. Coner Reilly had 12 points and five boards.

Mitch Buhler had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Championship - Wichita Collegiate 55, Sabetha 52

Wichita Collegiate completed its undefeated season by holding Sabetha to one just one field goal in the fourth quarter and rallying from a three-point halftime deficit.

Blake Jablonski scored with 7:12 to play in the fourth quarter to give Collegiate (26-0) a 45-44 lead. The Spartans never again relinquished the team, but there were several tense moments for the Spartans. Sabetha (23-3) had seven chances in the fourth quarter to either tie or take the lead, but the Spartans turned the Bluejays back at every turn.

Jablonski and Hourani had 12 points each to lead Collegiate, which shot 47.6 percent 920 of 42), including 5 of 11 from 3-point range. The Spartans were 10 of 14 from the free-throw line. Tre Bailey added 10 points.

Levin Winkler had 17 points and seven rebounds before fouling out to lead Sabetha. Caleb Kesler had a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Jerry Chase had 14 points, including two 3-point goals.

Sabetha shot 47.4 percent (18 of 38), but was just 2 of 9 from 3-point range.
