BOYS SEMIFINALS RECAPS

Wichita Collegiate 51, Rossville 48

The second-seed Wichita Collegiate boys had to rally from a nine-point deficit to move into the 3A championship game over second-seed Rossville.

Rossville led 15-6 in the first quarter and Collegiate kept pecking away at the lead. Rossville led 27-22 at halftime and 38-36 at the end of three quarters. With the game tied at 46-all, Tre Bailey hit 1 of 2 free throws to take a 47-46 lead. Rossville had several chances to take the lead, but Collegiate was equal to the challenge on every occasion.

Brett LeMaster led Collegiate with 16 points. Andrew Hourani had two big 3-point goals and finished with 11 points. Collegiate shot just 38 percent for the game (19 of 50), but turned the ball over only seven times.

Matt Buhler had 16 points and eight rebounds to lead Rossville. Mitch Buhler added 11 points and Tanner Cady had 10.

Rossville shot 58.1 percent from the field (18 of 31), but had 31 turnovers in which Collegiate scored 22 points from.

Sabetha 47, Hutchinson Trinity 38

Sabetha held top-ranked Hutchinson Trinity to 33.3 percent shooting and ended the Celtics perfect season. The Bluejays will play Wichita Collegiate in the 3A boys state championship game.

Caleb Kesler scored 16 points to lead the Bluejays, which shot 45.2 percent from the field and 17 of 27 from the free-throw line.

Trinity hit a last-second shot by Derek Racette to end the first half and lead 17-16. But Sabetha took charge in the third quarter, outscoring Trinity 12-5 in the third period.

Coner Reilly scored 12 points to lead the Celtics, who will play Rossville in Saturday's third-place game. Andrew Labenz and Ryan Mesh added seven points each.
