The second-seed
Wichita Collegiate boys had to rally from a nine-point deficit to
move into the 3A championship game over second-seed Rossville.
Rossville led 15-6 in
the first quarter and Collegiate kept pecking away at the lead.
Rossville led 27-22 at halftime and 38-36 at the end of three
quarters. With the game tied at 46-all, Tre Bailey hit 1 of 2 free
throws to take a 47-46 lead. Rossville had several chances to take
the lead, but Collegiate was equal to the challenge on every
occasion.
Brett LeMaster led
Collegiate with 16 points. Andrew Hourani had two big 3-point goals
and finished with 11 points. Collegiate shot just 38 percent for the
game (19 of 50), but turned the ball over only seven times.
Matt Buhler had 16
points and eight rebounds to lead Rossville. Mitch Buhler added 11
points and Tanner Cady had 10.
Rossville shot 58.1
percent from the field (18 of 31), but had 31 turnovers in which
Collegiate scored 22 points from. |
