BOYS QUARTERFINALS RECAPS

Wichita Collegiate 59, Medicine Lodge 52

Blake Jablonski hit a pair of 3-point goals and finished with at team-high 16 points to lead second-seed Wichita Collegiate past Medicine Lodge.

Brett LeMaster came off the bench to score 11 points and Tre Bailey added 10 for the Spartans..

Collegiate shot 19 of 44 overall (43.2 percent) and was 3 of 11 from the 3-point line.

The big difference in the game came at the free-throw line where Collegiate was 18 of 28, while Medicine Lodge was 1-3 from the line.

Taylor Buck scored 18 points with six rebounds, three assists and three steals to lead the Indians. Joey Musgrove had 16 points and six rebounds.

Rossville 65, Galena 51

Matt and Mitch Buhler led sixth-seed Rossville to the first tournament upset over No. 3 seed Galena.

Matt Buhler had 16 points, five rebounds, four steals and three assists, while Mitch Buhler had 15 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.

Rossville jumped out to a 14-4 lead after one quarter and Galena never recovered.

Rossville shot a tournament-high 58.3 percent (21 of 36), including 12 of 16 in the second half. Tanner Cady had 11 points.

Colton Leet had 15 points and Jacob Gougler finished with 10 points for Galena.

Hutchinson Trinity 46, Council Grove 39

Top-seed Hutchinson Trinity struggled with 28.6 percent shooting, but made some key plays down the stretch to topple eight-seed Council Grove.

Trinity lead 29-28 after three quarters, and then had to survive six lead changes in the fourth quarter. With Council Grove leading 38-37 with 1:24 to go in the game, Ryan Mesh had a three-point play with 1:02 to go to give Trinity the lead for good. Conor Reilly and Derek Racette added six-straight free throws in the final minute to seal the victory.

Racette had 16 points, five rebounds and three steals to lead Trinity. Reilly had 14 points and four steals, while Mesh had a double-double with 13 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.

Trinity shot just 12 of 42 overall, but hit 18 of 21 free throws.

Derek Ziegenhirt had 10 points to lead Council Grove.

Sabetha 70, Holcomb 66

Mitch Allen and Caleb Kesler scored 22 points each to lead fifth-seeded Sabetha past fourth-seeded Holcomb.

Both teams shot better than 50 percent for the game. Sabetha was 53.5 percent (21 of 40), while Holcomb shot 52.8 percent (28 of 53). The Bluejays had a big advantage at the free-throw line, going 27 of 38, while the Longhorns were just 7 of 11.

Jerry Chase had 10 points, four steals and three assists for Sabetha.

C.J. Brau led Holcomb with 22 points. Jordan Wilcox had 13 points before fouling out. Trey DeLaRosa and Matt Heydman had 10 points for the Longhorns.

Sabetha had to come back from an early eight-points deficit and still trailed 34-29 at halftime. The Bluejays outscored Holcomb 22-11 in the third quarter and then held the Longhorns off going 15 of 21 from the free-throw line in the final eight minutes.
