GIRLS QUARTERFINALS RECAPS

Cimarron 50, Northern Heights 34

Brooke Fairbank had a double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds to lead second-seeded Cimarron past Northern Heights in a 3A quarterfinal matchup.

Fairbank also had four teals to lead the Bluejays, which forced 24 turnovers. Haley Lloyd added 12 points.

Tess Hobson had 10 points to lead seventh-seed Northern Heights.

Northern Heights led 11-6 after one quarter, but Cimarron rallied to take a 23-21 lead at halftime and outscore Northern Heights 27-13 in the second half.

Wichita Collegiate 45, Norton 39

Despite shooting only 30 percent, third-seeded Wichita Collegiate held off sixth-seeded Norton.

Collegiate shot just 15 of 50 from the field and had 22 turnovers. But knocked down six 3-point goals to Norton's zero. The Spartan defense also forced 22 turnovers.

Kim Alexander hit four 3-point goals and finished with 12 points to lead Wichita Collegiate. Ashia Woods had 10 points, six rebounds and four steals.

Hayli Bozarth scored 29 points, hitting 12 of 16 shots, to lead Norton. Bozarth also had eight rebounds.

Riley County 51, Atchison County 20

Top-seeded Riley County scored the first 20 points of the game and shut out eighth-seeded Atchison County in the first quarter to roll to a first-round victory.

Atchison County didn't score its first points of the game until the 7:26 mark of the second quarter. By that time, Riley County had built a 20-point lead and cruised to the victory.

Katie Henry bombed away from long distance, knocking down 7 of 8 3-point field goals and finished with 21 points to lead Riley County, which shot 51.4 percent from the field (19 of 37) and was 7 of 13 from 3-point range.

Elice Frey had 11 points and Beth Husted had 10 for Riley County.

Gentry Linscott finished with seven points to lead Atchison County.

Cherryvale 68, Southeast of Saline 65

Katie DeTar's point-blank bucket with 12 seconds remaining was the 13th and final lead change of the night to lift fourth-seeded Cherryvale to a thrilling three-point victory over fifth-seed Southeast of Saline in the final first-round game of the evening.

Elissa Stein gave Southeast of Saline a 64-64 lead with 19 seconds to play, but Cherryvale, which trailed by nine points late in the third quarter, outscored Southeast of Saline 23-16 in the final eight minutes.

DeTar, who was strapped with two early fouls, finished with 19 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and two blocked shots to lead Cherryvale. Right behind her was Kelsey Overacker with 18 points and six assits. Sara Schwaninger also had a double-double with 17 points, 13 rebounds and five assists.

Shayla Semi had 31 points to lead Southeast of Saline. Stephanie Frost had 18 points and a tournament-high 16 rebounds.
