Patrick Schulte
scored the go-ahead basket with 12 seconds to play to cap a wild
fourth quarter and send top-seeded Nemaha Valley into the 3A
championship game with a thrilling semifinal victory over Holcomb.
Schulte scored
29 points, going 14 of 17 from the free-throw line to lead the
Raiders.
Nemaha Valley
was 0 of 3 shooting in the fourth quarter until Schulte scored from
a Lance Studer assist. Holcomb quickly moved the ball up the floor
but missed a short jumper that Schulte rebounded and was fouled. He
hit both free throws to give Nemaha Valley a 54-51 lead.
Holcomb never
got a game-tying attempt off as Dane Brinker stole to ball to secure
the victory.
Schulte was the
only Raider in double figures. Brinker finished with eight points.
C.J. Brau
finished with 17 points and four steals to lead Holcomb. Zevin Roth
and Leroy Tefoya had eight points each. |
