BOYS QUARTERFINALS RECAPS

Wichita Trinity 49, Horton 45

Second-seeded Wichita Trinity rallied back from a four-point deficit to defeat seventh-seeded Horton in the opening round.

Trinity (22-2) trailed 39-36 with 6:37 left in the fourth quarter, when Cole Graddy took over for the Knights. Graddy scored five points during Trinity's decisive 11-0 run that pushed the Knights to a 47-39 lead with 1:06 to play.

Trinity looked to be taking control in the third quarter, leading 35-25, but Horton went on a 10-0 run to tie the game after three quarters at 35-all.

Graddy had 20 points, nine rebounds, three assists, two blocked shots and two steals to lead Trinity. Cort Lindley knocked down 4 of 5 3-pointers and finished with 17 points.

Mitchell Hisle had a game-high 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead Horton (14-11). Mark Ross added 14 points.

Northern Heights 72, Galena 68

Third-seeded Northern Heights rallied from 15 points down midway through the third quarter to avert sixth-seeded Galena's upset bid in the opening round.

Heights (22-2) trailed 46-31 with 3:56 to play in the third quarter and went on a 20-5 run to take a 61-59 lead with 3:27 to play on Haydon Parks' three-point play.

From that point, there were four more lead changes. With Northern Heights up 68-65, Galena tied the game with a Troy Albright 3-pointer with 21 seconds to play. Heights answered by Parks drawing a foul on a drive to the hoop with 13 seconds to play for a 70-68 Heights lead. Then while trying to push the ball up the floor, Galena guard Dakota Walker lost control of the ball into the hands of Levi Hizar, who went in for an uncontested layup with time running out.

Parks scored a tournament-high 31 points on 11 of 15 shooting. He added eight rebounds adn three blocks shots for Northern Heights, which shot 53.2 percent (25 of 47) for the game. Pete Symmonds added 11 points.

Albright had 19 points for Galena (18-5). Jacob Gougler and Jacoby Martin had 13 points each.

Nemaha Valley 64, Lyons 45

Top-seeded Nemaha Valley looked the part in its opening-round contest against eighth-seeded Lyons.

Patrick Schulte scored 19 of his game-high 27 points in the first half as Nemaha Valley hit 7 of its first 8 shots of the game and 60 percent in the first half en route to a 38-22 halftime lead.

Schulte had a huge game shooting 11 of 18 from the floor with four rebounds, four blocked shots and four steals.

Lance Studer and Dane Brinker had 10 points each for the Raiders (22-2), who shot 52.1 percent for the game (25 of 48).

Lyons (11-13) was led by Payton Griffitt's 14 points. The Lions struggled after hitting two straight 3-pointers to start the game. Lyons shot 26.6 percent (17 of 64).

Holcomb 63,  Salina Sacred Heart 53

Fourth-seeded Holcomb took charge early and kept fifth-seed Salina Sacred Heart at arm's length the rest of the night to become the fourth higher seed of the day to win at the Sports Arena.

Jordan Wilcox led the Longhorns (21-3) with 18 points to lead for Holcomb players in double figures. C.J. Brau had 13 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Leroy Tefoya finished with 12 points and Zevin Roth added 11. Holcomb had just nine turnovers to Sacred Heart's 16.

Blase Martin had 17 points to lead Sacred Heart (19-5). Lucas Bradbury finished with 11 points and a tournament-high 13 rebounds. Chris McKinney added 10 points.

Sacred Heart outshot Holcomb, shooting 50 percent to the Longhorns' 44.1 percent.
