ROBBEN, MCGHEE TO PLAY IN NJCAA ALL-STAR EVENT NEXT MONTH IN FLORIDA
By Steve Carpenter HCC Sports Information Director Wednesday, June 24, 2009 Two members of Hutchinson Community College’s 2009 Region VI championship women’s basketball team were selected to play in the NJCAA Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s All-Star games on July 11-12 in Pensacola, Fla. Heather Robben and Ariella McGhee, the top two scorers from this past season’s 31-6 regional championship team have been selected to play on one of the four teams that will play two games each at Pensacola Community College. The event is an exposure showcase to highlight the 36 top NJCAA sophomores for the 2009-10 season. Robben and McGhee are the first two Lady Dragons ever selected to play in this event. The teams will practice on July 10 for the NJCAA-certified event and then play games on the 11th and 12th. RELEASE

HCC GOLFER MADDISON NAMES PING/NJCAA ALL-AMERICAN
By Steve Carpenter HCC Sports Information Director Wednesday, June 24, 2009 Hutchinson Community College freshman golfer Nicky Maddison was named a first-team PING/NJCAA Division I All-American for the 2009 season. Since 2006, Ping has announced an All-America team that is different from the NJCAA Coaches’ All-America team, which is earned by a golfer’s finish at the NJCAA National Championship. Maddison joins fellow freshman teammate Dale Middleton as Blue Dragons who earned All-America honors in 2009. Middleton finished sixth at the 2009 NJCAA Championships in Huntsville, Ala., to earn second-team Coaches’ Association All-America honors. RELEASE
