Volunteer Income Tax Assistance

Free electronic tax preparation will be available to persons with incomes at or below $53,000 through April 15, 2015. Assistance will be provided at the Salvation Army Building, 700 N. Walnut, in Hutchinson on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Assistance will be available on a first come, first served basis.   This free service is provided by RSVP and Volunteer Action Corps members who successfully complete the IRS  training and certification test.

Taxpayers seeking assistance must bring the following:

  • Photo ID
  • Social Security cards for all persons claimed on each return
  • Birth dates for all dependents
  • All documents showing 2014 income such as W-2, 1099’s, Social Security year-end statements, Unemployment statements.
  • Interest & dividend statements
  • A copy of your 2013 return (if possible)
  • Real Estate Property Tax Statements (if applicable)
  • Persons claiming childcare expenses should bring name of provider, address, phone & tax ID number & amount paid.
  • Persons planning to use direct deposit of refunds should bring bank or credit union routing and account numbers.

Through a partnership with MyFreeTaxes, the Volunteer Center is offering eligible families who want to prepare their own return the chance to use helpful software and file their taxes for free!

Am I eligible?

Individuals or families with a combined income of $60,000 or less can file their taxes for free!
