Our Center is a nonprofit child care facility established to provide quality care for children of HCC students, faculty, staff and other area school districts' employees.
It is licensed by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment for up to 38 children and serves children from three (and toilet trained) through six years of age.
The hours of service are Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 5:00 pm during the Fall and Spring semesters and 6:45 am to 5:00 pm during the summer.
Daily Schedule includes free play twice daily, clean up/wash hands, breakfast, lunch and snacks, circle time/large motor skills, learning stations, outdoor/large motor skills twice daily, brush teeth after meals, nap and story time.
Monthly schedule includes a variety of off site learning experiences. We take many trips throughout the year and may include additional trips if the educational need and opportunity presents itself. Our trips may include the Kansas Kids Museum, Public Library, Kansas State Fair, City Park, The Historical Museum and the City Parade.
Children are transported in HCC vehicles, personal staff vehicles, or parent vehicles for field trips. All vehicles are equipped with seat belts and/or booster seats and will be driven by the HCC Child Care Center staff or parent volunteers. Parents must sign the permission form for each field trip their child participates in. These forms are by the daily sign in/sign out sheets.
Holidays will be celebrated in a traditional manner. Parties will be held at the Center with dates and times to be announced. We encourage parents to attend these celebrations and generally ask for volunteers to provide treats and tableware. Birthdays are recognized by the Center for each child and we welcome treats from the parents to celebrate the occasion.
Children are assessed twice during the year using professionally - designed tools. Parent conferences are scheduled following the evaluation as well as times when a parent or teacher may feel a conference would be beneficial. Parents are welcomed visitors at the Center at all times.
Children, remaining at the Center more than four hours, shall be encouraged to nap or rest according to their individual needs.
