Dude, where's my
bicycle? From the second most powerful economy in the world, the country of high technology and earthquakes, comes Takashi Ojamino. Ojamino is from Yokahoma, Japan. He is a freshman at Hutchinson Community College majoring in business administration. He has been in the United States for a year and half. He first went to Shawnee English School, Shawnee, Okla., and then transferred here in the spring of 2001.
“We experience five to six earthquakes a year (in Japan),” he said. “It’s not fun at all. And it is very scary.” America is much different than Japan, he said. “The language, people, culture, lifestyle, food, everything has suddenly changed for me,” Ojamino said. “I came to Hutch because education is good, tuition is cheap and it’s also a quiet and safe place to study.” Unfortunately, an unhappy event recently happened in Ojamino’s life: his bicycle was stolen. For three weeks now he has been walking from home, several blocks from campus, instead of riding to school. “I bought my bike in July 2001 for $100,” he said. “It was stolen while I was at Dillons. I just went in for 10 minutes, and it was already gone. I called the police but no results — and that makes me walk everyday. I want my bike back. I have a reward for anyone who brings it back.” Anyone with information about the blue bike, with
chrome handlebars, may call 665-3415. |
