The
Mak Factor: I know that it is the day after Valentine’s Day, but this holiday is very helpful in that it can be used as an example and that the solutions can hold true all year long. On the brink of Valentine’s Day I heard a lot of different comments. On one side it was “…well my boyfriend/girlfriend is taking me to dinner.” On the other side it was “…February14th sucks. I don’t see why it matters so much.” Well, let’s face it people. You’re either in one boat or the other. The problem is dealing with the situation in a way that won’t hurt the other sides feelings. For those of you with someone special, that’s great. And not to rain on your parade, but contrary to what you may believe, not everyone wants to hear about your romantic plans. For those of you going solo on this day, learn to deal with it. Whether you want a date or not, quit talking trash on a day held special by many people. People aren’t attracted to those who whine and bitch all the time. If you have a special someone, the rest of this column is probably irrelevant to you, sorry. But for everyone else I have a couple of options you might be interested in. I got an e-mail from a friend of mine at K-State the other day and I thought it was pretty good. In it, he had presented a detailed description of a useful way to score that date you’ve been wanting, without all the hassles of finding that special person. Basically it’s an application process. Everyone interested can pick up an application where they provide their height, weight, hair color, pictures of themselves and a detailed description of what kind of person they’re looking for. Someone, I’m not sure who, would then go through the apps and match couples up. It’s kind of like a blind date-type thing. And this way you can find out whether or not the type of person you always thought you were interested in, is really your type. The other option is probably more likely to happen. It consists of getting off your butt and asking that person out that you’ve been drooling over for a week now. Yes, it may be scary, and yes, you may get rejected, but, isn’t it better than never knowing what they would have said?
Maybe you don’t like my options, but
it’s all I could come up with. Anyway, just think about it and decide
for yourself what’s better for you. |
