Taking care of business

Both the men’s and women’s basketball teams have raced through the early season, jumping out to 8-2 and 9-0 records, respectively.

The men’s first loss came at the hands of College of Southern Idaho 90-84 in the final of the Quarterback Classic on November 3.  The second was a 72-67 loss to Brown Mackie on November 23.

As of November 26, the men have maintained a +19.8 scoring margin behind sophomore Dainmon Gonner’s team-leading 15.8 points per game.  But the Dragons have struggled at the free throw line, where their 58 percent average puts them in last place in the Jayhawk conference.

The men have out shot their opponents, hitting 52 percent of their field goals and 39 percent three pointers while holding their opponents to just 36 percent field goals.

The women have won by an average of 32 points per game.  Freshman Brittany Dietz is averaging 4.6 three-pointers and 16.3 points per game, making her the sixth leading scorer in the conference. The women have held their opponents to 44.1 points per game, giving them the second ranked defense in the conference.
