'Emulate  Dr. King’
By Kandy Connery

Amen!

That was the response to Pamela Johnson-Betts dynamic speech, “My Brother’s Keeper."

Hutchinson’s Macedonia Baptist Church was at capacity Jan. 21 for observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

“Let’s all vow today to try to impact the social areas of resistance and emulate Dr. King in fighting for improved conditions for everyone,” Johnson-Betts said.

King taught that “all men are tied in a single garment of destiny, whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.”

Johnson- Betts believes with conscious commitment and genuine person-to-person relations of all races, Dr. King’s dream will one day become a reality.

Johnson- Betts has seen progress in our nation today, but says we must be diligent and see that everyone is treated equally.

“It’s important today to understand different cultures and customs in our world,” Johnson- Betts said. “Our nation’s economy and security demands it.”
