NFL vet speaks at HCC
By Mike Kessinger

A native of Hutchinson and former Hutchinson Community College football player, Sean James, New York City, spoke at the social science forum Oct. 7 at the Shears Technology building.

James, co-founder of Braver James Sports Management talked to the full crowd about having dreams and chasing them in his topic “Your Positive Role in Society”.

After graduating from HCC, James went to Missouri Southern State University followed by two years in the NFL playing for the Minnesota Vikings. He said his experience at HCC helped him prepare for MSSU, the pro’s and life after football.

“Living in the dorms (at HCC) gave me the opportunity to meet out–of-state players. It balanced me out.”

James stressed to the crowd, that it is important to make the most of your time at school.

He later spoke about how he got into the business of representing NFL players.

Since he’s been there, James has started a program called Braver James Student-Athletes. This program gets kids out of the city that most of them have never left before and helps them get into football camps at Ohio State and other schools.
