Sebelius speaks about educational influence

Music filled the B.J. Warner Recital Hall in the Stringer Fine Arts Building Sept. 10 as the Hutchinson Community College Jazz Band performed for a large audience. 
The crowd wasn’t present to hear the music, however.  Sitting in the front of the room, drumming her fingers on the notes in her lap, was the focus of the day, Kathleen Sebelius, governor of Kansas.

Dragons hold off Scotties
Key interception return gives Blue Dragons boost in victory over the Highland Scotties

Momentum is the name of the game. 
With only a four-point lead over the Highland Community College Scotties, sophomore David Sutton snagged an errant pass and returned it for a touchdown as time expired in the first half. The momentum propelled the Dragons to a 27-18 victory.

Most beauty comes at a price, but for the flowers that adorn the HCC campus this fall, it was more a matter of planting and hard work.
While looking for flower prices last November, HCC groundskeeper Ron Graber got a surprise when he found out that Gold Smith Seed Company and Pan American Seed Company would give him free seed, but someone would have to grown them.

 Electric companies shouldn’t be taken for granted by customers

The power outages in New York earlier this year shed light on an important fact. While the rest of the U.S. shows dramatic inflation in service rates, the power companies are forced to maintain prices similar to what they had in the 70’s. They cannot raise their prices without major complaint from customers. But when the power goes out because the plants are overloaded, these customers are the first to complain.   More...
