Men clinch Jayhawk West
Blue Dragons sweep last two regular
season games to capture conference crown

It’s been a long time coming for the Hutchinson Community
College basketball team.
Sixteen years to be exact. HCC clinched their first undisputed
Jayhawk West Conference title since 1988 with an 85-67 blowout
of Butler County Community College on Feb. 25.

for firefighter with leukemia

For someone who’s accustomed to facing off against ominous fires, cancer
didn't seem like a lurking opponent.
But for Doug Lloyd, a 29-year-old Hutchinson firefighter, cancer has
become a battle. Before Christmas, Lloyd went to a vision doctor for an
annual checkup. His doctor told him to go directly to the University of
Kansas Medical Center where he was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic
leukemia. More...
