Transfer Policy

HUTCHINSON COMMUNITY

ASSOCIATE DEGREE NURSING PROGRAM

Transfer Guidelines

 

Any student who is attending another college may request to transfer into the Associate Degree Nursing Program.

The following steps provide specific guidelines that must be met:

  1. Nursing classes from the prior college would need to be current and be completed less than three (3) years prior to transfer request or evaluation.
  1. If the student has been out longer than three (3) years they would have to start over with the first semester of the nursing program.

If the student meets the requirement for number one (1) the following must be met:

       1.  Must have completed the following pre/co-requisite education courses prior to beginning any   nursing courses:

  1. Human Anatomy and Physiology (must be within the last 7 years)
  2. English Composition I
  3. Any other co-requisite course prior to the semester being requested.
  4. Meet the time frame requirements for other college courses.

         2.  Complete application for admission to the college and send official transcripts.

  1. Meet program admission policies requirements regarding course grades and overall college GPA of 2.0 as well as the program GPA of 2.75 for general education courses for the program.
  1. Meet with the Director of Nursing or designee for determination of requirements related to competency testing (didactic and technical skills).
  1. Complete the standardized examinations and/or Final Exam related to each nursing course being considered for admission at the competence level set (i.e. Fundamentals, Medical Surgical I, II, III, etc.). You may schedule these exams with the program secretary at 620-665-4930.  The costs of the exams are the responsibility of the applicant.  These exams can only be taken once, so please review ahead of time.
  1. Demonstrate technical competency and math proficiency at the level of requested readmission through skills check-off and math exam.

         7.   Transfer students will be ranked according to admission criteria and meet all transfer policies.

All requests will be evaluated on an individual basis.
