The Office of Equity and Compliance is charged with ensuring HCC’s compliance with federal, state, and institutional policy guidelines that promote a non-discriminatory and harassment-free environment. Responsibilities include the investigation and adjudication of complaints of sexual discrimination—including sexual harassment and sexual misconduct—as well as incidents of stalking and relationship violence. In addition to making policy recommendations, the Office's Coordinator of Equity and Compliance (aka Title IX Coordinator) works to ensure implementation of educational and/or workplace support services for persons with disabilities and monitors compliance with any affirmative action initiatives HCC may undertake. The Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) at Hutchinson Community College exists to provide a structured, positive method for addressing student behaviors that impact the HCC community and may involve health and/or safety issues. The BIT strives to eliminate "fragmented care," to manage each case individually, and to initiate appropriate intervention without resorting to punitive measures.
